The Miami scandal involving former booster Nevin Shapiro has been dormant from headline news for a few months, but Shapiro’s allegations that he provided impermissible benefits to UM players, as well as his involvement in a Ponzi scheme, will be revisited tonight.

CNBC’s “American Greed” will profile Shapiro tonight at 10 p.m. ET in an episode titled “Major League Fraud.” You can see a preview of the segment HERE.

Shapiro was jailed after swindling investors out of nearly $80 million in a Ponzi scheme. While in jail, Shapiro spilled the alleged beans to Yahoo! Sp0rts reporter Charles Robinson over “millions of dollars” in impermissible benefits he said he provided to over 70 current and former Miami players.

The NCAA is currently investigating the allegations, although no timetable has been set for any sort of resolution to the matter. Because the investigation is ongoing, Miami cannot comment on it.
